Large Iron On Embroidered Back Patches for Leather Jackets & Vests

We highly recommend you sew on these patches if a household iron is what you are going to be using to apply them on. The larger the patch gets the more difficult it is to iron them on the back of shirts without using a proper heat press that can cover the entire design all at once. Small patches work great to iron on by yourself using a household iron. On the other hand a household iron will not be big enough to cover the entire face of the patch. It is doable but getting professional results are very rare unless you use a professional heat press. Remember temperature and time settings are very important. If you are heat pressing it is 270 degrees Fahrenheit and 15 seconds. If you are using a household iron the temperature must be between 260-280 Degrees Fahrenheit. I recommend keeping a constant pressure for 30 seconds in one spot before moving on to the next spot. There are many videos telling you to just run the iron up and down the patch. I've tried many techniques over my 10 years of dealing with patches, keeping that iron steady with pressure applied on one spot works the best. The hardest trick is to get the iron to stay steady at 270 degrees. Don't go by any setting mentioned on the iron, you should use a frying pan thermometer to check the temperature at the bottom of the iron to make sure you get it to the right temperature. Have fun ironing or sewing on your patches, just remember never to iron on a patch onto leather or nylon or any other material that might scorch from the heat. All our patches are designed to withstand the 270 degree temperature, but your fabric might be too delicate for that temperature and will begin to deform if you attempt to iron on a patch to it.

One of the coolest things you can add to your jacket or vest is one of the many large patches out there.  These large patches are usually at least seven inches tall or wide.  What makes one of these large embroidered patches so different from other patches?  There are a few different reasons.  These large patches take up a lot of room, so you don't need a lot of other patches for your jacket or vest.  It's a very easy way of adding decoration to your jacket without buying multiple patches or spending a lot of time attaching them to your item.

Another reason why make bikers like these patches is that they're really detailed, more detailed than smaller patches often are.  For example, birds may have very detailed feathers or people may have shaded shadows.  Patch makers can also use more colors on these large patches, making the images on them even more spectacular than those on smaller patches.  The images can also be more complex, featuring a different colored background and multiple images.

While there aren't as many different variations of large patches as there are of other biker patches, there are still a good number of options out there.  You'll find everything from patches made specifically for bikers to those for military officers.  There are even some large biker patches made just for women.

This large patches work just like their smaller variations.  You can iron them on to most of jackets or vests.  If you're going to put them on leather or nylon, however, you must sew them on.  Most large patches have die cut borders around them that make it easy to sew them on.  Using one of these large patches as the central patch on your jacket is a great way of creating a theme.
