Some of our biker patches are not meant to be funny or sarcastic. They are as serious as can be. This particular patch is a good example. The 22 Too Many Military Suicide Awareness patch calls attention to the fact that America's combat veterans continue to suffer from the fallout of war long after the fighting is done.
This patch reminds of a startling statistic released by the Veterans Administration (VA) suggesting that as many as 22 veterans die by suicide every day. Whether or not the number is completely true remains a source of debate. But even one suicide is too many. Our combat veterans need our help and support.
Wearing this patch on your jacket or vest will not change anything for vets on its own. But it will help raise awareness. And the more people who are aware of what is happening with our vets, the more likely they are to get involved by donating their time, money, and resources. The patch will also be a constant reminder to you of your own responsibility to help where you can.
There's nothing fancy or artsy about this patch. That's by design. There should be nothing to take away from the importance of the message. Though brief, '22 Too Many' is a statement too powerful to ignore. Each one of those veterans represented by the idea is a son or daughter. Many of them are husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, and sisters and brothers.
Be sure to attach this biker patch to your clothing by sewing it in place. It is the perfect size to fit above your left or right breast pocket or the back pocket of a pair of jeans. If you wear a denim jacket, it will look good on either side of the collar.
