Becoming a Lone Wolf

There are a lot of bikers out there who love riding with their motorcycle club.  They get together once a month or even more often and ride.  Sometimes, they take a short, leisurely ride through their city, and other times they spend the whole day riding.  These clubs get together for parties, host biking events, and often have a large social component to them.  But this isn't for everyone.  There are some bikers out there who simply don't like riding with others.  They're called lone wolves, and they just want to ride in peace.

Some people have compared biker clubs to wolf packs because they seem to do everything together.  Sometimes, however, a wolf will leave the pack or be driven away by the others.  They might be stronger and more aggressive than the others in the pack, or they may be a challenge to the alpha wolf.  Others, especially young male wolves, often leave one pack for another.  If you have left a club or don't want to ever be a part of one, you're like these wolves.

Some lone wolf riders ride alone simply because they don't know anyone in a local club or don't know any local clubs exist.  Some live in areas where there are no biker clubs or other riders.  But some don't like the social aspect.  They want to decide when and where they ride, and they don't want to wait for anyone.  Some find motorcycle clubs to be too political or get too wrapped up in things that are only slightly related to biking.  Whatever the reason, these lone wolves value their freedom and independence.

If you're a lone wolf rider, there are a number of lone wolf patches you might want to put on your jacket or vest.  These motorcycle patches let others know that you're not a part of any club and have no desire to be.
