Blue Knights MC in Ohio Honor One of Their Own

The Youngstown, Ohio chapter of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club joined the students and staff at Chaney Visual and Performing Arts school earlier this month to mourn the passing of a man who was greatly beloved by both groups. School security officer Robert Conway Sr. died while on duty at the school, after collapsing from an apparent heart attack. He was 57 years old and leaves behind a loving family and a legacy of being someone who cared.

As a former police officer, Conway was an active member of the local Blue Knights chapter. The Blue Knights motorcycle club is made up of former and active duty police officers whose love for motorcycles brings them together for charitable causes. According to many members of the Youngstown chapter Conway was "always giving his time" by being involved in almost all of the activities the chapter sponsored. As for his volunteer contributions to his school, Conway's efforts were just as outstanding.

It is stories like this that show how wonderful and caring members of the biker community can be. Such clubs often get a bad rap because of a small minority of bikers who prefer to behave in ways that are improper. But the vast majority of bikers like Mr. Conway are caring, compassionate individuals who would give you the clothes off their back if you needed them. In communities all over the country bikers like Conway are sorely missed when they pass on.

The Blue Knights custom motorcycle club patch bears the image of a knight in blue armor riding a white horse. Officer Conway represented that knight in shining armor at Chaney and throughout the entire Youngstown area. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
