If you ever drilled into your table for whatever reason, drove a screw in to hold something and later on removed it. There is a proper way of filling up that hole. You can just use wood filler and get shitty results, OR you can buy a dowel slightly thicker than the hole you have and do it the proper way. Wood filler is supposed to fill the crease between your dowel and the table, you should not use wood filler to cover up an old screw hole. You can do it, but the results won't be very nice.
