Joining a Local Motorcycle Club

Some bikers love to ride alone.  These lone wolves don't want to be accountable to anyone and want to set their own schedule.  But some riders love the company of others.  While you might be able to find a few riding buddies on your own, the best way to find others to ride with is to join a local motorcycle club.  These clubs do more than just give you someone to ride with, of course. There are a number of other benefits you can receive by joining one, including monthly gatherings, holiday events, wearing club-related embroidered patches, and much more.

You can find a local motorcycle club in a number of ways.  There are some websites that include a directory of clubs that you can search by area.  Sometimes, local clubs will put an ad in the local paper or post flyers around town.  You might also hear about an event your local biker group is putting on.  Word of mouth is another great way of learning about clubs, and if you know other people who ride, you can ask if they're a part of a club or know of one.  Look for people wearing biker patches with their club name on it, too.  Many clubs ask their members to wear patches like that for identification and advertising.

Joining a motorcycle club is usually very easy.  Few have any requirements.  You may be asked to pay yearly dues that contribute to club activities, and you might also need to wear the club motorcycle patches, at least at official club events.  Other than that, you can often come to as many events as you like.  If you want to be really involved, you can run for an elected office and help run the club, but you can also only attend a few functions here and there if you'd rather not be as involved.
