Memorial Day (aka Decoration Day) is a day about honoring fallen soldiers. Before the World War I, The Decoration Day was for honoring the Civil war soldiers alone. After the World War I, It was expanded to all men and women who died while serving the armed duties.
The Memorial Day is celebrating in every last Monday in the month of May. This day was federal government holiday in US. The first state to officially recognize the Memorial Day holiday was New York in 1873.
During 1915, an overseas war Secretary Ms. Moina Michael was introduced to wear red poppies on Memorial Day in honor of those who died, serving the nation during war.
The reason for observing the Memorial Day in the month of May, During that period, the flowers starts blooming. These flowers are used for decorating the graves of our strong soldiers. It marks the beginning of the summer.
