Another 3rd Monday of January. In memory of Late Martin Luther King Junior. Today we celebrate his birthday. It's a day where equal rights for all people in the US are promoted. At 25 years old, Dr King was the youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent resistance to racial prejudice in America.
He was assassinated in 1968 in Memphis Tennessee. Shot by a rifle as he stood on the 2nd floor balcony of the Lorraine Motel.
Dr Kings followers celebrated his birthday to commemorate him each year after his death. In 1983 Ronald Reagan made Martin Luther King Jr Day an official holiday. It was first observed in 1986, apparently not by all the states until 2000.
And just like any US Holiday we do have a Martin Luther King Jr Day Sale going on just for today.
