I admit - I'm not always the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. Sometimes I hear people say things and can't tell whether they're being serious or not. Such is the case with the Public Relations Officer patch I found the other day at The Cheap Place. I found it in the Club Ranks category along with other patches like Road Capt., Sgt. At Arms, President, and Vice-President. Given the legitimacy of the other ranks, I'm wondering if the idea of a public relations officer is serious or just an inside biker joke.
I mean, let's face it. When most of us think of bikers we think of clubs like the Hells Angels. Not that all biker clubs are made up of thugs doing illegal things. It's just that that's the image we have in America. So why would a club like the Hells Angels need a public relations officer? And if it did have one, just exactly what would his job be? These are the things I think about.
If you're a public relations officer for your club, perhaps you could drop me a line and explain to me what this is all about. And while you're at it, do you have one of these patches? If you do, is its sewn on the front of your vest? Regardless, if you're wearing one you obviously have an important job to fulfill and I don't want keep you from it...so never mind.
