Pineapple Patch

If you've been looking for a biker patch that can encourage conversations with people you meet at organized rides and rallies, might we suggest the Pineapple patch? It is simple enough. Sew it to the front of your jacket or vest and wait for the questions.

We must admit that we don't know of any particular symbolism bikers attach to the pineapple. That's not to say that the beloved fruit has no symbolism. It does. We just don't know how it relates to bikers.

The most traditional symbolism is hospitality. Associating the tropical fruit with hospitality is so common that you often see it displayed by hotels, restaurants, and cafes. The fruit is brazenly displayed in tourist-heavy areas in the Caribbean and Mexico.

At one time, the pineapple was a symbol of affluence in European cultures. That makes sense. Pineapples were costly in Europe because shipping was so expensive. If you could afford pineapples, you were wealthy.

One of the more curious uses of the pineapple is to identify members of the swinger community. We don't know why. We just know that's the way it is. Swingers sometimes display an upside-down pineapple to identify themselves to other members of the community.

Regardless of any particular meaning you might attach to the pineapple, putting a pineapple patch on your leather jacket or vest would be viewed as unusual for biker. You could expect a lot of people coming up and asking you what the deal is. You could tell them what you think or just make something up. It is entirely up to you.

Our Pineapple patch measures 2 x 3.5 inches. Its small size makes it ideal for the front of your jacket or vest, the back pocket of a pair of jeans, or the front of a baseball cap.
