Pirate Patches Anyone?

Medium Pirate Skull Patch'Argh! You scurvy pirate!' The romantic picture society has painted for pirates; adventure in the high seas, swashbuckling rescues and daring escapes, could not be farther from the truth of these lawless brigands. During the seventeenth century, many men were unwillingly admitted into the British navy, which created a mass wave of deserters. And when you desert the navy, there isn't much choice on where to go when out at sea, so many turned to piracy. Found as a most lucrative investment, because of merchant ships, many found their fortunes, and their death, in the life of a pirate.

Fun Facts:

1)  Most pirates never learned how to swim. They'd rather drown right away than be marooned or eaten by sharks.

2) Pirates believed that having women on board their ship was bad luck.

3) The captain's cabin was the 'faculty lounge' of the ship.

4) Gambling was almost never allowed aboard pirate ships.

5) The pirate Blackbeard's real name was Edward Teach. A real genteel name for a vicious pirate killing machine.
