Prison of War - Missing In Action

There are two possibilities happen for people in the armed forces to be considered them as MIA. First, the soldiers killed by the war happen with the opposing military but their body was not provided for their own government. So the government may think that, the particular soldier missing in action.

The other possibility is that, during the mission, the opposing military can detained the soldier and kept them in a prison. This occurrence was termed as POW (Prison Of War). There are very few chances to know that the person is still there as POW in the opposite side, because the own federal considered them also a MIA.
