Putting Patches on Your Luggage

In addition to wearing your patches, you can also use them to decorate just about anything made out of cloth, canvas, or leather.  You luggage, for example, can be customized with any number of patches.  'Luggage' can include many different items from backpacks and messenger bags to saddlebags and even full sized suitcases.  Go crazy and put your personal touch on any bag you use!

Most bikers immediately think of adding patches to their bike's saddlebags.  These saddlebags aren't always that large, so you may not be able to put one of the big ten by ten patches on them, but you can easily fit some of the smaller ones.  Since a lot of saddlebags are made from leather, you may have to sew your patches on, which can be a little bit of a pain.  However, customizing your saddlebags is actually one of the easiest ways to add a little bit of style to your bike, it's much easier than having a custom paint job done, for example.

Putting patches on your backpack, totes, and other bags is usually easier since you can iron them on.  This is a great way to show your allegiance to a particular biker brand or cause.  You can also, of course, decorate them with patches you like.

Many people wouldn't think of adding patches to their full-sized luggage, especially since that's something you rarely use in conjunction with your bike.  However, there's a good reason you might want to do this: it makes your suitcases very easy to identify.  Putting a few large, easy to see patches on your suitcase makes it easy to spot at an airport luggage claim, for example, and it will help insure that no one else runs off with your bag.
