If you live in the Loveland, Colorado area or don't mind taking a bike ride there, you can check out the Thunder in the Rockies Bike Rally! This rally will be August 31 through September 3 2012, and it promises to be a lot of fun. The rally attracts more than 30,000 bikers every year, and it features live entertainment, over a hundred venders, and a number of different activities. It's all set against the beautiful Loveland scenery which is a joy to ride through.
While the main rally takes place Friday to Monday, there is a Wednesday pre-rally kickoff party that's free to attend. In fact, much of the Thunder in the Rockies rally is free, you only pay for the specific entertainment events that you want to attend. You're free to browse the venders, check out the bike show and tattoo contest, and enter the Forever Family Ride without paying anything. There will also be a free event on Monday, but details have not been released yet. The events you do need tickets to include the Jonny Lang concert on Friday, the MMA fights on Saturday, and the final event on Sunday, which includes the Miss Thunder in the Rockies contest and performances by Great White and Slaughter.
Thunder in the Rockies is sponsored by and will be held at Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson. You'll find a number of different lodging and eating options located nearby, although food and drink venders will be at the rally. Other venders will be selling parts, biker patches, gear, and just about anything else related to bikes.
