I don't know about you, but I am a big fan of the '50s even though I wasn't born until 1965. I love everything about the era; the cars, the music, the culture, etc. So there's a patch here at The Cheap Place that I really love because it reminds me of that. It's the Built To Ride American Customs motorcycle patch, and I found it on the Back Patches page. It's pretty big, measuring 12" x 9", so it's designed to be sewn to the back of a jacket or a vest. Personally, I think it would look best on black leather rather than brown.
It reminds me of the '50s primarily because of the lettering and of the styling - it just has that look. So here's what I'm thinking. Three or four times a year I get together with a group of friends and we do an "oldies night." We play our favorite music from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, dress up in our favorite "period" clothes, and just have a good time. I have this black leather jacket which I normally combine with a pair of jeans, a white T-shirt, leather boots, and slicked back hair. In other words, the 1950s package. I'm thinking this large back patch would be the final element to make my look complete. I guess if there's any downside it's that the guy who designed it can't spell. Oh well...live free or die.
