There are a number of different medical positions that do not work in the hospital. One of them is the Emergency Medical Technician, or EMT. EMTs are some of the first to respond to accidents like fires, explosions, and natural disasters. They have to be cool under fire, be able to react instantly, and multitask. If you're one of these amazing people, add an EMT Shield Patch to your jacket or vest. This unique shield, designed using the EMT symbol, is one of the many in stock patches on The Cheap Place. You can find it in the Firemen Patches.
An EMT, sometimes also called an Ambulance Technician, must make snap decisions when they arrive on the scene. Their job is to do what they can to stabilize them until they can be safely moved to a hospital or other emergency treatment center. The main symbol of the EMT profession is called the Star of Life. It's a blue star made out of three crossing blue rectangles. Running up the center rectangle is the Rod of Asclepius, the traditional symbol of medical care. Each of the six branches has a meaning: detection, reporting, response, on-scene care, care in transit, and transfer to definitive care. These are the six main tasks of an EMT.
The shield patch features this Star of Life under the letters EMT. It's surrounded by several accent lines. The whole patch is done in the shape of a shield, which is somewhat unique. This patch can be ironed on to any material except leather. For that, you can sew it on. The patch measures 3 inches by 3 inches.
