A Navy Patch for Afghanistan Veterans

Afghani War Veteran US Navy PatchToday's post features the US Navy Afghan War Veteran patch, found in the Military Patches section at The Cheap Place. This particular patch features the colors of the Afghanistan conflict in the center, surrounded by a black border with white lettering and two gold ribbons. It is a patch navy veterans of the conflict would sew to a jacket, the formal shirt, a baseball cap, or some other piece of non-uniform clothing.

The most unusual thing about this patch is not even in the patch itself. It is the fact that many Americans fail to realize that the Navy has been fully involved in Afghani operations. Since Afghanistan is a landlocked country we typically think of the Army, Air Force, and Marines as providing the bulk of the war effort. But the Navy is involved on two fronts.

First of all, the U.S. Marine Corps is part of the Navy, not an independent branch of the military. Second, the Navy provides support through transportation of soldiers, shipment of supplies, and even offshore, long-range artillery. Without the help of the Navy the operations in Afghanistan would be next to impossible.

Whether you're a current service member or veteran The Cheap Place has a wide selection of military patches to suit your needs. If you can't find which are looking for, you can submit your own design and have them custom made for you - as long as you order 20 or more pieces.
