Have you ever said something you probably shouldn't have said but still enjoyed saying it? If so, and you're Vietnam vet, you'll probably enjoy the Jane Fonda American Traitor Bitch patch that The Cheap Place has in its Veterans Patches section. If you haven't seen this one you might want to go look at it. It's one of those things a lot of us would love to say, even though decorum suggests we don't. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're probably not old enough to remember the Vietnam War.
Without getting into the details, Ms. Fonda was one of the many celebrities who was openly against the war. She went so far as to carry her disagreement all the way to North Vietnam, where she sided with the enemy against her own country. Many vets were bitterly angry to the point of hatred, and Ms. Fonda became the poster child for all that was wrong with the 1970s anti-war movement. To this day, many have still not forgiven her.
I wonder if enough time has passed that Ms. Fonda could be forgiven. I don't know - I'm just throwing that out there. Regardless, this woman's actions were part of a larger episode in the darker days of U.S. history. For those who fought in Vietnam, perhaps this patch is appropriate. If you chose to wear one, and I met you on the street, I certainly could find no fault with you.
