A Patch for Those From Idaho

Idaho PatchLooking for a patch that shows your pride in Idaho?  The Cheap Place has State Rockers for every state, including the Gem State.  This Idaho Patch is arched so it fits nicely on the shoulder of your jacket.  It measures 4 by 1.75 and can be sewn or ironed on (sew it on to leather so you don't damage the material).  This is one of many currently in stock patches that can be in your hands very quickly.

Idaho is the 43rd state of the United States.  It's mostly mountainous, and while it is a landlocked state, it is home to the farthest inland seaport on the Pacific coast.  Idaho is bordered by six other states and by the Canadian province of British Columbia.  The state got its nickname of the Gem State because it's possible to find almost every type of gemstone in the state.  It's the only place in the world outside of the Himalaya Mountains where star garnets can be found and is the only place to find six-pointed star garnets.  Because of its large potato crops, Idaho is also sometimes called the Potato State.

One interesting fact about Idaho is that no one really knows where the state's name came from!  George M. Willing suggested the name to Congress as the name for the new territory in the Rocky Mountains, saying that it was from the Shosone language and meant something like ?the sun comes from the mountains.?  However, he later admitted that he had made it all up.  The territory was named Colorado Territory, but a town in the area was named Idaho Springs, and a county in Washington Territory was named Idaho.  Finally, that county broke away from Washington and became Idaho Territory in 1863, but the origin of the name is still a mystery.
