A Skull Patch that Caught my Eye

A Skull Patch that Caught my EyeI don't know about you, but I'm all about depth and richness. I don't much care for shallow people, flavorless food, and black-and-white pictures. For example, in the Small Patches category at The Cheap Place, I found this simple but rich Skull and Cross Bones Patch in Medium Pink. It measures 3.5' x 3.75" and features an imposing skull and cross bones against a black background. If you take look, you might see why I'm so impressed.

First off is the subtle shading of the color. I'm not normally a fan of pink, but the way the patch is shaded gives the appearance of light pink in some areas and dark purple in others. How they achieved this shading so seamlessly I'll never know, but it's incredibly striking against the background.

Next is the texture. Of course, all embroidered patches have some texture, but you'll notice on this particular skull and cross bones there are several raised areas that add some extra texture. The forehead of the skull is clearly defined by two raised areas that almost form a flat plate on the front. On the bones there are raised areas to simulate the curved ends.

As far as I'm concerned, a patch with good color and texture always beats one with a witty or humorous statement. As I said, I like richness and depth in my friends, my food, and my artwork. This particular patch is one I'd recommend for anyone's leather vest.
