With some 600,000 or so residents, it has the lowest population density of any state. Some 65% of the state is government-owned land. Juneau is the capital and Anchorage is the largest city.

Alaska has gobbles amounts of oil reserves and has the Alaskan Pipeline going from Fairbanks to Valdez. The state's huge oil reserves and natural resources actually make it one of America's richest state's per-capita.
