Bikers from North America

North America PatchThere are bikers all around the world, but a number of things from biker culture developed here in North America.  Motorcycles may have originated in Europe and may be dominated by brands from Asia, but some of the unique things bikers are known for didn't come until motorcycles were introduced to North America.

One of the biggest contributions to come from motorcycle use in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico is the popular idea of the stereotypical biker.  This image was created by movies and television shows broadcast mainly in the U.S.  Before this, the idea of a biker as a rebel wasn't that established.  This is because many people in Europe and Asia drove motorcycles or small motorized scooters.  They weren't considered rebels, just normal people.

North America is also home to some of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world.  Sturgis and Daytona Beach are two of the largest, although there are many more throughout the year.  These rallies often bring in thousands of bikers from North America, plus bikers from around the world have attended just to meet other bikers, browse the merchants, and learn about new models.

For those who are from North America, there are a few different patches you might want to add to your biker jacket or vest.  Some people prefer flag patches that specify what country or even what state they're from, but some people like the way the entire continent looks on a patch.  The North America Patch is especially interesting because it's done in black and white.
