Bikers Raise Awareness for Child Abuse and Bullying

blue ribbon patchOne of the biggest fears parents face is that their child will be bullied (or, worse, be a bully).  Bullying at school and online has become more and more of an issue, especially with social media sites like Facebook.  It's easier than ever for bullies to reach out and hurt children.  It can even be done anonymously now, so there's absolutely no risk to the bully.  It seems less personal or hurtful when bullying is done by typing and clicking than when it's done face to face, but it's still bullying.  That's why there are many different groups who work hard to put an end to bullying, including some motorcycle clubs.

One of the most well known groups who work against bullying is Bikers Against Bullying.  They hold a number of different events throughout the year to raise money for bullying awareness and counseling, including their large Ride for Bully Awareness event.  In 2014, this event will be held on August 24.  All proceeds from the event go to various charitable programs, including StopBully.com.

Bikers Against Bullies USA is another awareness organization.  Based in Montana, the group aims to provide support and a safe environment for kids who have been the victims of bullies.

Many of the bikers who work with these clubs or who want to show support for the various anti-bullying programs out there will wear a blue ribbon patch.  This light blue colored ribbon has been designated the color of support for child abuse and bullying, and kids know that bikers who wear this patch are there for them when they feel bullied.
