Biking in the Winter? That's Insane!

At the very least, you can expect many people to tell you that you're crazy if you're out in the snow and ice on your motorcycle.  While riding your motorcycle on an icy road is dangerous, there is nothing too crazy about biking in the winter.  In fact, if you live far enough in the north, your choice is to ride in the cold or not ride at all, and what kind of choice is that?

Insane PatchOf course, you'll want to make certain you're very warm.  In addition to the standard long pants, jacket, and helmet that most people wear when riding, you'll want to add some insulated clothing.  There's some biker gear that's made just for riding in the cold, so be sure you pick some up.  You'll also want warm gloves.  If you're going to be riding your motorcycle to and from work or other places where you need certain clothing, you may want to start packing it separately and changing when you get there.  Another option is to wear insulated underwear.  Remember, too, that you are exposed to the elements.  If it's snowing or raining, you'll certainly want an extra pair of pants to wear at work.  And don't forget to slap one of these cool Insane Patches onto your jacket so everyone knows you're crazy!

Before you get on your motorcycle each day that there's snow on the ground, be sure to check both the weather forecast and the road in front of your house.  If there is any ice on the road at all, you may want to reconsider.  It's very easy to lose control of your bike on the slick ice.
