ain't nobody got time for that patchAs a biker, you want to set out on the open road, driving through gorgeous scenery with the wind in your face. If you are new to Oklahoma, you have probably not had the time to find the best scenic drives. And let's face it, ain't nobody got time for that (as your biker patch proclaims), so instead of finding these drives on your own, this list has some of the best places to visit in southern Oklahoma.

Quartz Mountain is in the southeastern part of the state. It's about two and half hours from Oklahoma City, so you might want to make a weekend trip of it; the lodge and cabins are a perfect place to get away from the bustle of city life. You can hike, boat on the lake, or just ride through the mountains.

In the southern part of the state, you'll find the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It is located about an hour and half south of Oklahoma City and east of I-35 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. You can visit the Veteran's Lake or drive all the way around the much larger Lake of the Arbuckles. Both offer plenty of fresh area, forests, and scenic views. As a bonus, if you go a bit further south on I-35, you'll run into Turner Falls, which is a mountainous area featuring a large natural waterfall.

Another area of south of Oklahoma City worth visiting is the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. The main road runs through the center of the mountains, and you'll be able to see open prairies, lakes, and wildlife such as bison, elk, deer, and armadillos.

The next time you need to feel the wind in your hair and your bike on the road, head to one of these scenic treasures; they'll be sure to give you the fresh air you need.
