If You're a Cop, How about a Police Patch?

POLICE PatchIf you're a police officer, you might want to add a few police patches to your jacket.  However, you can't really add any official patches or the same patches you wear when you're on duty.  What you can add, though, is a generic Police Patch such as this shield.  This Police Patch - Embroidered Shield looks like an official police patch, but it doesn't have region or division on it.  It's a great way of letting people know you're on the force.

This patch is shaped like a shield and can be put on your sleeve or any other part of your jacket.  You can even use it to patch a tear in your pants or put it on a bag or canvas wallet.  It features the eagle logo that appears on many U.S. emblems: the eagle with shield in front of it, thirteen arrows clutched in one talon and a thirteen-leafed olive branch in the other.  The shield has the traditional stars and red and white stripes on it.  This logo appears on many police patches and posters, so this patch does look about as official as you can get.

Measuring 3 by 3.5 inches, this shield is small enough to fit on many items and can make a good addition to a jacket or vest that already has other patches on it.  While it's not truly illegal to wear a real police department patch on your jacket when off-duty, there is a gray area if people believe you're a cop or have any sort of authority.  That's why there are patches like this.
