'The few, the proud, the Marines'. That's the slogan used by the United States Marine Corps in many of its promotional materials. The Marine Corps is one of the smaller branches of the U.S. military, although there are still more than 200,000 active duty personnel today. The Marines are, however, very highly trained, and a number of personnel serve about naval vessels and amphibious ships. Marines may also be in counter-insurgency, landing operations, and air-ground combined task forces. If you're in the Marines, you may wish to ass the U.S. Marines Patch - Small Arm Rocker With Flags to your jacket sleeve. It's one of the Rocker Patches found on The Cheap Place.
The Marines fill several roles in the U.S. military structure. The most obvious is that they're the amphibious combat unit, meaning that they attack enemy territory and bases from the ocean. This differs from the Navy's duty of protecting the waters from enemy assault and handing naval combat. Before they attack, some marines are charged with expeditionary assaults, scouting the areas for future combat. Some also work with the Air Force or the Army in joint missions. Marines must be fairly flexible because of these different duties.
This rocker patch has the U.S. flag on either side of it, giving it a little bit of color and making it look a little different from other rockers. It measures 4 by 1.5 inches, so it will comfortably fit on the shoulder of a jacket or on the front of a vest. The patch can be ironed on to almost any material except leather. For leather items, sew the patch.
If you're a Marine, let others know it with this rocker.
