If you've lost a family member or friend who was in the military, you may have attended a military funeral. These funerals are done somewhat differently than other services, and once you've seen one, you will always remember it. To honor those military personnel we've lost, both at home and abroad, The Cheap Place has a line of Flag patches. Of course, these patches can also be used to show your patriotic feelings and loyalty to the U.S.
The In Memoriam Folded Flag Patch is a triangle of blue with white stars on it. Underneath this triangle are the words 'In Memoriam'. This triangle actually represented a folded United States flag. At a military funeral, the casket is covered with a flag. The blue field of stars is placed so that it covers the head and left shoulder of the deceased. After the military band plays Taps, two servicemen step forward and fold the flag. The flag, if it's a properly proportioned one, can be folded in a triangle 13 times. The final fold leaves only the blue field of white stars showing. All the red and white stripes are folded under and cannot be seen. The flag is then given to the appropriate family member as a keepsake.
The In Memoriam patch measure 3.5 by 2.5 inches, and it's shaped in a triangle with a thick black border. You can easily sew it on leather or iron it on any other material.
