All week we've been focusing on the Military Patches category at The Cheap Place. It's been an awesome ride as we've discovered many of the great offerings the company has for America's veterans. With today's post we'll finish off the week by talking about the Afghanistan War Veteran Patch - Small Rocker, a 3.75" piece in gold and black. This one is for our soldiers returning home from the conflict in Afghanistan, regardless of their branch of service.
What I think is most important about this patch is that it refers to the Afghan conflict as a "war." The politicians might like to call it something else - something that sounds a little nicer - but for the men and women on the ground it is indeed war. Those returning from Afghanistan and the Gulf region deserve every bit as much respect as we paid World War II vets on their return home some 70 years ago. Their service to the country is no less valuable just because no congressional declaration of war was issued.
If you're an Afghan vet this patch would be ideal on the shoulder of a jacket, the front of a baseball hat, or even over the breast pocket of a casual dress shirt. And because it has a plastic backing with heat-activated glue it's incredibly easy to attach using just a hot iron. The glue adheres to just about anything except leather and vinyl. Those two applications will require needle and thread.
