Pray a lot? Maybe you need this Patch?

Amen patchOne of the first forms of practicing their faith that Christians learn is to pray.  When they're first taught to say their prayers, usually at night before they go to bed, they learn that every prayer, no matter how it begins or what it's about, ends with the word 'Amen'.  This word has a long and interesting history in relation to religion, and it's not just with Christianity.  Amen is also used in Judaism and even in Islam.  If you want a way of showing your religious devotion without using a cross or a Bible verse, you could put this Amen Patch on your jacket.  You'll find it in the Christian Patches section on The Cheap Place.

The word 'amen' is usually translated as 'so be it' or 'let it be'.  It's often used as a declaration of affirmation at the end of a prayer or a hymn.  It's also often used as a way of saying you really hope something is true or that something happens.

In Judaism, the word is often a response to a blessing and is used in several rituals.  The Talmud teaches that the word is an acronym for a phrase that means 'God, trustworthy king'.  In Islam, the word is always used as the conclusion of a prayer or dua.  For example, it's used after reciting the first surah of the Quran.  It has a similar meaning as the Christian use.

This Amen patch features white letters embroidered on a black twill patch.  The patch measures three inches long and one and a half inches tall.  It can be ironed on to many different types of material, but if you're going to put it on leather, be sure to sew it on so you don't damage the material.
