September 11, 2001, was a horrible day for many people. Many lost friends and family members in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and others were simply shaken to see that such an attack could happen. The brave firemen of the New York City Fire Department were some of the first to respond to the attacks on the towers, and many gave their lives to save others. The Gone 343 But Not Forgotten Patch remembers these brave individuals. It's located in the Firemen Patches category along with some other patches honoring and remembering those involved in the September 11 tragedy.
When the first aircraft hit the north tower, many fire departments, paramedics, and EMS crews were instantly contacted and raced to the scene. Unfortunately, even though a mobile command center was set up as quickly as possible, the panic caused by the first attack caused a great deal of confusion. The second plane crashing into the south tower made it even worse, and some firefighters and EMT personnel lost contact with the rest of the recovery teams. They didn't hear the order to evacuate the towers, and when they came down, they were killed or trapped. Overall, 343 firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency personnel were lost, including several chiefs and the First Deputy Commissioner.
We remember these 343 heroes every year on September 11, but we can also remember them by wearing this patch. The patch is bright red with yellow text and a thick die cut yellow border. You can sew it on leather or iron it on any other type of material. Remember those 343 brave heroes by wearing this patch.
