Remember the 4th Commandment with this Patch

4th Commandment PatchFor Christians, the Ten Commandments are more than just good ideas?they're the laws by which one should live.  While many of these commandments are pretty obvious and simple, like not killing others, some are more specific to the Christian faith.  One of these is the Fourth Commandment: Remember the Sabbath Day to Keep it Holy.  This is also one of the commandments that isn't always followed.  If you want to remind people of it, put a 4th Commandment Patch on your jacket.

The Fourth Commandment is one of the easiest to break, and many people do.  Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy connects to Genesis, where after creating the world and everything in it, God rested on the seventh day.  This day, Sunday, became known as the Sabbath Day.  This day is to be set aside to worship God and connect with Him.  There are actually a number of different Sabbath Day observations.  Some see Sunday as the Sabbath Day, while others worship on Saturday.  In Judaism, the day of the new moon is the monthly Sabbath.  There are even some denominations that celebrate an annual Sabbath, and there's also a date for a Millennial Sabbath.

No matter which of these days you observe, the Sabbath Day is for worship.  No work is to be done, so many Christian-run and owned businesses close on Sunday.  However, because there are a number of people who do no observe the Sabbath (both Christian and non-Christians don't always do this), many businesses are open seven days a week.  Sometimes, this isn't really a decision the person makes, firefighters and doctors, for example, may have to work on Sunday or lives would be lost.
