Roaring down the road, the wind in your hair, that's the life many bikers want. The problem is that the real world always comes calling. It's hard to ride when you don't have gas in the tank or money to keep your motorcycle maintained. Unfortunately, you have to have these things to stay on the road, and it takes money to buy them. Money means having a job unless you happen to be independently wealthy (and if so, congratulations). So what do you do when you have to decide between your dream of riding and the requirements of the real world?
One thing some bikers do is try to combine their passion for biking with work. They take jobs as bike messengers, delivery drivers, and other positions that require a good amount of driving. These positions usually allow the driver to use their own vehicles and, in most cases, a car isn't truly necessary. These jobs might even pay mileage and a small stipend for vehicle maintenance, which means you can keep your bike in good shape without devoting a lot of your salary to it.
Another option is to devote as much of your free time to riding as possible. However, this is really only possible if you have a spouse who loves riding and if you don't have children. Otherwise, you're going to have to give up some of your riding time for your family and other responsibilities.
