Okay - I found my new favorite patch in the Biker Sayings Patches section. It's the brown and gold Scooter Trash patch. Why is it my new favorite? Well, back in the 1980s I used to own a 1976 Honda 550/4. It was an awesome bike as-is, but I added a customized seat, wind faring, dual chrome exhaust, and some wider tires. By the time I got through modifying the bike it was, shall I say...sweet.
Unfortunately, I lost my baby when I loaned it to a co-worker who got busted as an out-of-state fugitive. The bike was confiscated, because it was used in the commission of a crime, and auctioned off. I never replaced it even though I always wanted to. Now I'm in my mid-40s and looking forward to moving south when the last of my children graduates high school. When I get to the warmer weather I might just buy a scooter.
I know, I know... bikers look down on scooter riders as something lower than low. But since I'll never convince them otherwise, why not go along with it and get a laugh or two? I can sew this patch on one of my "old man" jackets, iron it to a vest, or even glue that puppy to my helmet. When the big, macho bikers laugh at me for my geeky little scooter, I can laugh right along knowing that I don't care what they think.
That's one of the advantages of getting old.
