The Brotherhood of Bikers

Brotherhood patchWhen some people talk about being a part of a brotherhood, they use the term as a synonym for group, club, or organization.  They're not really a brotherhood, just a group of friends who get together and share a common interest.  A true brotherhood involves being more than just close friends, it means being as close as true brothers.  It means having absolute trust in each other.  These people have formed a very, very close bond.

There are a number of different brotherhoods out there that truly understand the term 'brotherhood'. Many of these brotherhoods are formed by military personnel in combat.  They have no choice but to entrust each other with their lives, and the bonds that are formed from those experiences are unbreakable.  Bikers, too, often have strong ties to each other.  Some are just close friends, of course, but some riders are very loyal to their biker brothers and sisters.  The bonds they form on the road are very strong and cannot be broken.

Of course, a brotherhood doesn't have to revolve around a common interest.  Sometimes, people who have known each other their entire lives form bonds just a strong as those who have seen combat or been in life-threatening situations.

Many brotherhoods decide to wear similar jackets or have patches on their jackets that identify them as a group.  One option is the large Brotherhood patch.  This large arched patch looks great on the back of a jacket or a vest.
