In honor of President Obama's recent trip to Puerto Rico I've chosen the Puerto Rico Shield patch as the topic for today's post. It's a standard 2.75" shield bearing an image of the Puerto Rican flag in red, white, blue along with the island's name in gold. From a purely aesthetic point of view, it is a very attractive piece.

It also has an iron-on backing which makes it easy to apply to most fabrics. If you'll be attaching it to leather, the die-cut border makes it easy to secure with needle and thread. Just make sure you don't try to iron it to your a vest or jacket - the glue and leather don't get along.
