When you think of military patches, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Would it be the U.S. Coast Guard Circle patch from The Cheap Place? I would venture to guess probably not, primarily because so few people realize that the Coast Guard is actually part of our country's military. In fact, the Coast Guard is the fourth branch of the military despite the fact that most people consider the Marines to be the fourth branch. In reality the Marine Corps is part of the U.S. Navy.
Military designations aside, this circle patch is a gorgeous piece featuring the Coast Guard logo complete with dual anchors and the "semper paratus" motto. The main colors are red, white, and blue - all tastefully accented with gold interior and exterior borders. Of all the military patches I've seen this one might possibly qualify as the most regal. I'm not a Coast Guard vet, but I would be proud to wear this patch if I were.
Being only 3" in diameter this patch is ideal for the front of a baseball cap. It also fits nicely on the shoulder of a jacket, the breast of a dress shirt, or even on a duffel bag or backpack. Making it easy to mount is a heat-activated glue that's part of the plastic backing. As long as you're not mounting it to leather or vinyl, you can simply press it on with a hot iron.
