This patch makes it clear that if you can't protect yourself, you can't defend your country. Just imagine if no one had any weapons. Criminals would still find a way of getting guns, those who are really determined can't be stopped by a few laws. Also, we're guaranteed the right to bear arms. Giving up that right could be the first step to giving up other rights, like freedom of speech. In the end, we would be giving up the entire country.
