U.S. Army Desert Patch for Those Going to the Sandbox

us army desert PatchIf you're a member of the U.S. Army, you may have been deployed to the desert, which military personnel sometimes refer to as the sandbox.  When deployed to desert environments, soldiers wear different uniforms.  Instead of the standard military green, they wear a beige uniform that helps to blend in with the sand better.  If you've been to the desert or if you like the look of that color scheme better, you may want a US Army Patch - Desert Beige patch for your jacket.  It's a part of the Military Patches category.

The beige and tan uniform worn by the U.S. Army is officially called the Desert Camouflage Uniform, or the DCU.  It's basically the same as the standard uniform, but instead of the dark green, black, brown, and dark tan of the standard uniform, it features light tan, pale green, and brown.  It's actually not worn that often any more, it has been replaced by the Army Combat Uniform, which uses a different camouflage pattern.  The new uniform is made from desert sand, foliage green, and slate gray colors that actually become somewhat lighter or darker depending on how much sunlight is shining on it.  This means it can be used in both the desert and foliage situations.

However, when it comes to U.S. Army patches, the desert beige logo is still popular.  This patch measures four by one inches and features lettering done in Texas Orange on a sand colored background.  It can be sewn on to leather or ironed on to other materials using the heat-activated adhesive on the back.  This patch is great for anyone who is in the army or who has served in the desert.
