One of the results of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon was a renewed sense of patriotism among many Americans. While the U.S. flag and other patriotic symbols were seen fairly often before the attacks, following them, many more people began wearing patriotic images. Many of the 911 Patches feature the U.S. flag and other patriotic symbols.
The United We Stand 91101 Patch - US Flag is a standard United States flag with the date and the words 'United We Stand' printed on the lower portion of the flag. Generally, words aren't printed on the actual flag, but this patch is an exception. It makes the patch smaller and keeps the true dimensions of the flag.
Unlike some flag patches, this patch has the correct number of stars '50' and the correct number of red and white stripes,13 total. According to tradition, this flag should be worn on the left shoulder so that the blue field of stars is facing to your front. This way, the flag will look like it's blowing out and waving in the wind as you walk. Of course, that's not a hard requirement. You can wear the flag on your right shoulder if you want, or put in either on the front or back of your shirt, vest, or jacket. You can even put it on your pants if you like.
This flag patch has a thick yellow border that makes it easier to sew on to leather. If it didn't have the border, you would have to try to match one of the three colors in the flag, which would mean your stitching would stand out on the other two colors.
