Sanded down to 320 grit then brushed and wiped with Early American Stain from Varathane. After another light sanding, 3 coats of Glossy Spar Urethane Coating is applied to make it shine. Urethane coating is a protective layer that adds gloss to the appearance. I'm using Minwax Helmsman Spar Urathane rated for exterior use. There are no holes or hardware included to hang the piece. You can attach it to a wall using double sided tape, or a 23 gauge pin nailer, or glue it. I highly discourage drilling holes into it using a drill as tear outs will occur. Use a high speed router bit to minimize tear outs when trying to add holes. Every piece is slightly different. Sizes are approximate, (it's close but we don't want anyone complaining that it's a half inch smaller than what it says), thickness varies from 0.18 to 0.23 inches. They are made of birch plywood advertised as quarter inch thick but actual measurements of thickness are closer to 0.2 inches. (Home Depot birch is about 0.18 inches, Lowe's birch is 0.23 inches thick) Use as wall decoration in your house, barn, woodshop, workshop, garage. If putting it outside and you want it to last, you will need to lightly sand it down and then brush or spray spar urethane ONCE A YEAR. I recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight and rain. While I stain both sides of the sign, Only the front surface is coated with Urethane
