  • Giant Claw Bear Wood Wall Decor Description:

Giant Claw Bear Wood Wall Decor measures 12x11.5. Laser cut and engraved right here in Florida USA by Erhan The Patch Guy. Sanded down to 320 grit then brushed and wiped with Early American Stain from Varathane. There are no holes or hardware included to hang the piece. You can attach it to a wall using double sided tape, or a 23 gauge pin nailer, or glue it. I highly discourage drilling holes into it using a drill as tear outs will occur. Use a high speed router bit at your own risk to minimize tear outs when trying to add holes. Every piece is slightly different. Sizes are approximate, (it's close but we don't want anyone complaining that it's a half inch smaller than what it says), thickness varies from 0.18 to 0.23 inches. They are made of birch plywood advertised as quarter inch thick but actual measurements of thickness are closer to 0.2 inches. (Home Depot birch is about 0.18 inches, Lowe's birch is 0.23 inches thick) Use as wall decoration in your house, barn, woodshop, workshop, garage. Both sides of the piece is stained. This item has not been sealed. If you're putting it in an outside location I recommend spraying or brushing it with Spar Urethane by Minwax. Green cans that say Minwax Helmsman is a great sealer, comes in gloss, semi gloss or satin. It is very important that you add 3 coats of finish for a great look. Before putting the first coat of sealer take 800 grit sand paper and lightly sand the surface. Couple of passes! The only thing you are trying to achieve with the sanding before the first coat is scratching the surface so the first later adheres properly to the surface. These tiny scratches from sanding should not be visible to your eye. If it is then you are not sanding lightly! Put on a light coat. Wait 4 hours, take 800 grit sand paper, lightly sand it. And then get damp piece of cloth and wipe off the surface to remove all the dust. Brush on your second coat and let it dry for another 4 hours. Then sand it lightly again and apply your third and last coat. You'll get a really beautiful finish if you apply 3 coats! If you apply a single coat it will look like crap! You want to make sure you don't lift up a lot of dust when the urethane is drying. Ideally you want to do it in a dust free room, but that's not practical for most. Just don't go doing things that might lift up dust, such as turning on a fan. Let the piece dry in peace.
