It's a good thing that images depicted on biker patches cannot come to life à la Disney's Toy Story and other fine films. Otherwise, we are not sure we could sell the Vicious Chimp iron-on patch with a clean conscience. This is one animal we would not want to meet in a dark area of the zoo.
Chimps are well known to be dicey in terms of their trustworthiness. They can be very friendly one minute and not-so-friendly the next. They need to be handled very carefully. The image on this patch depicts what could happen if poor handling makes a chimp unhappy.
What strikes us most about its design is how the artist captured the look of true anger. Who knows if chimps are even capable of such a high level of emotion? If this image were the deciding factor, we would have to say they are.
From a design perspective, we appreciate the fine blend of colors. Black, gray, and a peach color make it easy to see the chimp's face and expression. Red in the mouth and ears provide some much-needed definition. As for the orange, it is the perfect color to express the animal's rage in a visibly sensible way. Kudos to whoever came up with this original design.
As far as quality goes, the Vicious Chimp piece is just like all the other patches we carry. It is made with a high-quality twill fabric and 100% rayon thread. The embroidery is top-notch as well.
Should you choose to sew the patch to your jacket are vest, we recommend a dark black thread around the entire border. It does have a heat-activated glue on the back, which is appropriate for fabrics like denim and cotton. Don't try to use it with nylon or leather.
