Skulls are an interesting topic for artwork. They can be simultaneously hideous and endearing. We consider the design behind the Pattern Skull patch part of the endearing group. While it is a skull, it still looks kind of cool.
The patterns depicted across the entire surface of the bone are meant to look like ancient adornments. To us, the design is reminiscent of the sugar skulls associated with Mexico's Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. The only thing our skull is missing is the bright colors sugar skulls are known for.
Nonetheless, we expect that the image depicted here is something that our skull-friendly customers will appreciate. The patch measures 3 x 4 inches and includes a thick, black, die-cut border all the way around. The border gives definition along with a nice space to hide some black thread should you choose to mount this patch by sewing it to your clothing.
We always recommend sewing to nylon, leather, or other types of fabrics that are especially sensitive to high heat. There is no point in risking damage to your clothing when needle and thread will work just fine. We also recommend using the smallest diameter needle that will not bend as you pierce the patch. The smaller the diameter, the easier it will be to sew.
If you choose to attach the patch to denim, cotton, polyester, etc., you can make use of the iron-on glue included with the patch's plastic backing. Just apply the patch with a household iron or commercial heat press.
The Pattern Skull patch is just one of many skull patches we carry here at The Cheap Place. As always, you can save by buying embroidered patches in bulk. If your order is big enough, we might even throw in free domestic shipping.
